Three Lions Who Could Be Traded This Draft (But Only If Hell Freezes Over)
Look, we need to start with reality here. The Lions aren’t trading anybody during this draft. Brad Holmes has built something in Allen Park, and you don’t mess with the recipe when it’s finally working.
But this is the NFL, where stranger things have happened than the Lions actually being good at football. So let’s play the “what if” game for a minute.
The 2026 NFL Draft starts Thursday, and Detroit sits in a decent position to add talent. That’s a sentence I never thought I’d write without wincing, but here we are. The front office has earned some trust, which feels weird to say out loud.
Still, if some truly extreme scenarios played out, there are three players who could theoretically be moved. And I mean extreme. We’re talking about situations so unlikely that they make our playoff drought look probable.
When “Extreme” Actually Means Extreme
The reality is simple: Holmes and company have no reason to blow up what’s working. This isn’t the Matt Millen era where we traded away talent for magic beans and false hope.
But draft day is unpredictable. Teams get desperate. Phone calls get made. And sometimes, even the most stable organizations consider moves that would have seemed impossible a week earlier.
The Lions are in a good spot heading into Thursday. That’s not something we’ve been able to say very often over the past few decades, so let’s not take it for granted.
Any trade scenarios we’re talking about would require circumstances so perfect and offers so ridiculous that they’d be impossible to refuse. Think “Godfather offer” territory, not your typical draft day wheeling and dealing.
The smart money says everyone stays put and the Lions use their picks to keep building. After all the years of watching this team tear itself down, that sounds pretty damn good to me.
Think Holmes is actually crazy enough to make a blockbuster move, or are we finally smart enough to just build on what’s working? Drop your take below.
