Well, well, well. Look what we have here. The schedule gods have blessed us with some prime Monday Night Football drama, and frankly, it’s about damn time Ford Field gets to host some fireworks under the lights.
The Lions are reportedly set to host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 16. That’s right, primetime in December at Ford Field with playoff implications likely on the line. This is what we’ve been waiting for, people.
The DJ Reader Revenge Game Nobody Asked For
Here’s where it gets spicy. This will be the first time Detroit faces former nose tackle DJ Reader since he departed for New York. And yes, I know what you’re thinking. Reader didn’t exactly leave town with a warm goodbye from the fanbase.
After the Lions’ embarrassing loss to the Steelers in 2025, Reader got into it with fans on Twitter and had some colorful things to say. Look, I’ll be the first to tell you that players deserve better than getting harassed online. Reader had some justification for pushing back. But I’ll also be the first to tell you there was no way Lions fans were going to take that well.
December at Ford Field. Monday Night Football. A former Lions defensive lineman who talked trash to the fanbase. The boo birds are going to be out in full force, and honestly? That’s football.
Giants Bring the Juice
Setting aside the Reader subplot, this should be a genuinely entertaining game. The Giants are loaded with characters and talent. Jackson Dart can sling it. Cam Skattebo brings that running back energy. And their defensive line? Yeah, that thing is absolutely stocked and could cause some real problems for our offensive line.
This is the kind of primetime matchup that makes December football special. Two teams likely fighting for playoff positioning, hostile crowd, storylines for days. Ford Field under the lights in December hits different, and this one has all the ingredients to be a classic.
Are you ready to boo DJ Reader into oblivion or do you think we should take the high road? Drop your take below.
