Which Veteran Corner Should the Lions Sign to Replace Terrion Arnold?

The Lions may need to sign a veteran corner like Adoree' Jackson, Rasul Douglas, or Tre'Davious White after Terrion Arnold's arrest on felony charges leaves a hole in the secondary.

The Lions Might Need to Call Someone

Terrion Arnold got arrested in Florida on multiple felony charges related to a kidnapping and armed robbery earlier this year. That is not a sentence any of us expected to write this offseason, and yet here we are. Innocent until proven guilty, sure, but this is serious and the Lions might need to prepare for life without their cornerback in 2026.

Which means Brad Holmes might be scrolling through the free agent market looking for a veteran who can step in and not make things worse. Championship rosters need depth. They need guys who can play when the plan goes sideways. And right now, the plan is very much sideways.

So who is still out there?

Adoree’ Jackson

Jackson does not need to be a shutdown corner. He just needs to be what he has always been: a reliable veteran who can line up outside, survive when injuries hit, and keep the defense from collapsing. He has started 92 NFL games. He came off 11 starts for the Eagles in 2025. He could either start for the Lions or rotate with Rock Ya-Sin.

That is the kind of signing championship teams make. Not flashy. Not sexy. Just competent and available when you need him.

Ifeatu Melifonwu

Melifonwu is still unsigned. He recently worked out with the Seahawks. He has played both safety and cornerback in the NFL, and more importantly, he has already been in this system. He knows what is expected. He is also just 27 years old.

Would he be a home run? No. But he is familiar, flexible, and cheap. That matters when you are trying to patch a hole in May.

Tre’Davious White

White would only make sense if the Lions believe he still has enough left to be a starting-caliber corner. That is the gamble. At his best, White was one of the premier corners in football. The injuries have clearly changed the trajectory of his career, but he is still a smart, experienced player who understands route concepts and does not panic when the ball is in the air.

The Lions would not be signing him to stash him on the bench. They would be bringing him in with the expectation that he could compete for and likely win a starting job. He had a pretty decent 2025 and graded out fairly well. It is a bit surprising he is not on a team right now.

Rasul Douglas

Douglas might be the most appealing option of the group because you are not just betting on a name or hoping a former Pro Bowler can recapture what he used to be. He actually played good football last season and has continued to show he can be a productive starting corner in this league. He graded out at 72.7 by PFF. One of the best seasons he has had in a while.

He is physical. He has outstanding ball skills. He has consistently found ways to create turnovers throughout his career. If you are Brad Holmes and you need a corner who can start tomorrow, Douglas is the safest bet on this list.

Here We Go Again

None of these moves are ideal. The ideal scenario was Arnold staying out of trouble and developing into the corner the Lions thought they were getting. But we do not live in ideal scenarios. We live in Detroit, where even the good years come with curveballs you did not see coming.

Brad Holmes will figure it out. He always does. But damn, it would be nice if just once the offseason was boring.

Which corner would you trust the most if Holmes makes a move? Or are you holding out hope Arnold somehow plays his way out of this? Drop your take below.

Rasul Douglas is the move for me. The article’s right that he actually played well last year and didn’t just rely on his name to stay relevant. Brad Holmes has shown he knows how to find value in the free agent market so I’m not worried about whoever he picks up.

Look I trust what Dan and Brad have built here way more than I did with the old regimes, but man it feels like we’re always scrambling for corners. Adoree Jackson is fine but I just have a bad feeling about patching holes this late when we should be competing for a title.

You know the difference between now and the dark days? Brad Holmes would never let a situation like this spiral. He’ll get a guy in here who can do the job and move on. I’ve seen way worse offseasons in my time watching this team and this organization actually has a plan unlike back in the day.

Tre’Davious White could actually be a great sneaky pickup if he’s healthy. The guy knows what he’s doing out there and doesn’t need a ton of hand holding. Campbell and Holmes have proven they can get the most out of veteran guys.
