NFC North Beat Writers Put Jared Goff and Jordan Love Head to Head and It Got Messy
A group of beat writers who cover the NFC North got together to build an all-division roster and things went sideways immediately. The debate was supposed to start at quarterback and move on. Instead it stayed at quarterback for a while, because nobody could agree on who the best signal caller in the division actually is.
The panel included Mike Payton covering the Lions, Wendell Ferrara on the Packers, Cole Noble on the Bears, and Tyler Fornes on the Vikings. Each writer made the case for players from their respective teams. The conversation covered advanced analytics, film study, supporting cast, arm talent, pressure numbers, playoff performances, and whether certain quarterbacks get far too much credit or not nearly enough.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love were the main event here. That should surprise nobody.

Where Do You Stand on Goff vs. Love?
Look, I know where I stand. Goff has been elite when the pieces around him are clicking and inconsistent when they are not. That is not a knock, that is just what he is at this point in his career. Love has the higher ceiling and the worse floor depending on which week you catch him. Neither answer is wrong if you can actually defend it with something other than vibes.
But that is the whole point of this exercise. You watch the video, you hear the arguments, and you decide who got it right.

Goff has shown us what he can do when the team is built right around him and Brad Holmes knows how to get the pieces there. The guy is playing at an elite level and people need to stop trying to diminish that just because Love had some flashy moments. We finally have a real QB leading this team and it feels amazing.
Look I want to believe in Goff as much as the next guy but let’s not pretend he hasn’t had some rough stretches this year too. Love is talented no doubt, I just need to see Goff sustain this level before I’m ready to crown him over everybody. Campbell and Holmes are doing the right things though, that part I’m sure about.
Man it’s wild to even have this conversation about having the best QB in the division. We’ve had some rough years where we couldn’t even compete with these guys, now we’re debating who’s better? That’s what good front office work looks like. Holmes and Campbell flipped the narrative completely.
Goff over Love all day long and I don’t need film study to tell me that. Our guy is slinging it and winning games. The supporting cast argument is weak too because good QBs elevate the guys around them and that’s exactly what he’s doing.
