I've been a Detroit Lions fan since birth. Grew up in Livonia, Michigan, and my football education started early. The first thing this team ever taught me was heartbreak. Billy Sims was going to be everything in 1984. Then a knee injury ended his career at 27 and I learned what Lions fandom actually meant. I was ten years old. It never got easier. Barry Sanders, the greatest running back who ever lived, walked away from the game in his prime rather than keep playing for a franchise that didn't deserve him. Calvin Johnson did the same thing a decade later. In between, there was 0-16, the Millen years, and more false starts than I care to count. Fifty plus years of this and I'm still here. That's either loyalty or a character flaw. Probably both. ThatDetroitGrit.com exists because Lions fans deserve more than recycled takes and national media condescension. This is a site built by a lifelong fan who actually watches the film, tracks the roster moves, and holds Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell accountable while fully believing they're the best regime this franchise has ever seen. No algorithms. No hot takes for clicks. Just honest Lions coverage written by someone who's been suffering and celebrating since 1974, and isn't planning to stop anytime soon.
