Cardinals Rookie Has Never Heard of Lions QB Jared Goff and Honestly, That’s Fair
Look, we’ve all had those moments where we pretend to know who someone is when we absolutely do not. The polite nod. The vague “oh yeah, totally.” The quiet panic when you realize you’re supposed to know this person and you have no earthly idea who they are.
Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love just lived that moment on the St. Brown Podcast, except he was honest about it. And it was beautiful.
Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother Equanimeous were doing their usual thing at the NFL Rookie Premiere event, showing draft picks photos of current and former NFL players to see if they could identify them. When they showed Love a picture of Jared Goff, the third overall pick in the 2026 draft had absolutely no clue who he was looking at.
“He looks like that old dude, Andrew Garfield,” Love said while the St. Brown brothers lost it.
But it gets better. After Amon-Ra told him it was Jared Goff, Love still had no idea who that was. The exchange that followed was peak comedy:
“Jared Goff. He’s a quarterback?” Love asked. “Was he good? He’s on your team right now? Oh, he’s nice then. He’s nice then.”
Now before anyone gets their Honolulu Blue jerseys in a twist, let’s be honest here. Love is twenty years old. When he was a freshman in high school, Goff was already an established Pro Bowler. College kids don’t watch the NFL the way we think they do. They’re too busy trying to make it to the NFL to spend Sunday afternoons studying quarterbacks they may never play against.
Also, and this might sting a little, but Goff isn’t exactly a household name outside of football circles. He’s very good at his job. He’s been to a Super Bowl. He’s led this franchise to back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in three decades. But he’s not Tom Brady. He’s not Aaron Rodgers. He’s not the guy casual fans instantly recognize.
And you know what? That’s probably fine. Goff has never seemed like the type who needs the spotlight or the national recognition. He just wants to win games and throw touchdowns to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who clearly thinks his quarterback is “pretty good.”
The fact that Love immediately switched to “oh, he’s nice then” once he learned Goff was Amon-Ra’s teammate was actually pretty endearing. Kid went from complete ignorance to instant respect in about three seconds.
Besides, Love had bigger problems during that segment. He also couldn’t identify Calvin Johnson. Calvin freaking Johnson. Now that one might actually hurt.
Is this disrespectful to our franchise quarterback or just a reminder that not everyone lives and breathes NFL like we do? Sound off below.
