Gibbs Is Back at Allen Park and Yeah We See What This Means
Jahmyr Gibbs is back on the practice field. No contract announcement yet. No full participation yet. But he is suited up, taking reps during the early portion of walk-throughs at the Meijer Performance Center, and that is a hell of a lot better than where we were a week ago.
Once practice really got going, Gibbs went off to the side with trainers. There was some talk about back stuff coming into camp. Is it serious? Probably not. But the fact that he is out there at all is what matters here.
No deal has been announced, but come on. This is not the behavior of a holdout. This is a guy who wants to be here and a front office that wants to keep him.
The Running Back Market Has Been a Mess This Offseason
You have to understand the context. The running back market has been loaded with moving parts this offseason. The Bijan Robinson extension. The De’Von Achane deal. Jonathan Taylor’s situation. There were so many dominoes falling at the position that it just made sense Gibbs’ deal was not going to happen right away.
Brad Holmes does not panic. He waits. He watches the market. He sets the number where it needs to be and he gets it done when it makes sense. That is exactly what is happening here.

Detroit could announce a new deal for Gibbs as early as today. We are going to know what the numbers look like soon. And when we do, it is going to be fair, it is going to lock up one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL, and it is going to be another quiet win for Brad Holmes in a long string of them.
Gibbs has been one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL since Detroit drafted him. Locking him up long-term has been a priority for general manager Brad Holmes. The fact that he is back on the field before any deal has been officially announced tells you exactly where both sides are in negotiations. This is not contentious. This is not messy. This is just business getting done the right way.

Jahmyr Gibbs is back. The Lions are officially fully back at training camp. No drama. No holdout. No nonsense. Just a franchise that knows what it is doing and a player who wants to be part of it.
