Lions Could Go Undefeated at Ford Field for First Time Since 1991 and Here’s Why It’s Actually Possible

The Lions' home schedule could deliver their first undefeated season at Ford Field since 1991, with only Green Bay posing a real threat among eight opponents.

Eight Games at Ford Field That Could Make History

The Lions are heading to Germany to play the Patriots, which means we finally know who’s actually coming to Ford Field in 2026. And honestly? This might be the best shot Detroit has had at going undefeated at home since 1991.

Take a look at this home slate: Packers, Bears, Vikings, Saints, Giants, Jets, Buccaneers, and Titans. Yeah, there are some tough spots in there, but the toughest matchup by far just got shipped overseas when the AFC champions became the international game.

The three games that should give Lions fans pause are Green Bay, Chicago, and Tampa Bay. But here’s the thing about two of those teams.

Recent History Is On Detroit’s Side

The Lions have owned the Buccaneers lately, winning three of the last four meetings. Chicago? Detroit hasn’t lost to the Bears since the 2023 season, which feels like a lifetime ago in Lions years.

Green Bay is the real wild card here. The Packers swept the Lions last year, so they’re the team most likely to throw a wrench into any perfect home record dreams. But one team out of eight? Those are odds this franchise hasn’t seen in decades.

After that trio, the rest of the schedule starts to look more manageable. The Giants have one of the deepest defensive lines in football, but what else do they really have? The Saints put a lot into their defense this offseason, but their offense is still very much a work in progress.

Young Teams Still Finding Their Way

The Jets should be sneaky good, but they’re still young and figuring things out under their new regime. The Titans remain a rebuilding team with a lot of growing to do. And the Vikings? They might be an old rebuilding team at this point.

The Lions already have the easiest total strength of schedule in the NFL, but this home schedule is where they can really do damage. Not just because of the opponents, but because of Ford Field itself.

Detroit has proven over the last few years that they’re simply a better indoor team than outdoor team. These eight games at Ford Field represent eight chances to show exactly what this franchise has become under Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes.

Going undefeated at home for the first time in 35 years? In this city, with this fanbase, after everything we’ve been through? That would be something special. And for once, it actually feels possible.

Think the Lions can actually run the table at Ford Field or are we setting ourselves up for the same old heartbreak? Sound off below.
