Lions Finally Get Their Germany Date
The NFL schedule drops Thursday, but leave it to a FOX executive to accidentally spill the beans early. Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of FOX, let slip during a conference call Monday that the Lions’ Munich game is locked in for Sunday, November 15 with a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff.
That’s 3:30 p.m. local time in Munich, which means Lions fans will be nursing their coffee while watching Honolulu Blue in the Bavarian afternoon. The game kicks off a FOX tripleheader, so at least we know the network is taking this seriously.
First Time Back Overseas in Over a Decade
This marks the Lions’ first international game since that disaster in London back in 2015. You remember that one. The Chiefs hung 45 points on us in a 45-10 loss that made for an ugly performance.
But this is a different Lions team. Hell, this is a different Lions organization entirely.
Amon-Ra Connection Makes Perfect Sense
The Munich choice feels deliberate when you consider Amon-Ra St. Brown’s German roots. The All-Pro receiver has dual citizenship, speaks the language, and makes regular trips back to Germany. In 2024, the Lions expanded their global marketing program to include Germany, and having their best receiver as a natural ambassador doesn’t hurt.
We still don’t know who the opponent will be. The full international game announcement comes Wednesday at 9 a.m. ET on NFL Network.
The timing works out perfectly for the Lions’ European push. The franchise has built something special here, and taking this show on the international road feels like the natural next step for a team that’s finally worth exporting.

Amon-Ra being the face of this Munich game just feels right. The guy bleeds Lions and now he gets to represent us on his home turf basically. This organization is finally doing things the smart way and it shows in moments like this.
I mean cool and all but I need to see us actually compete in this game before I get all excited about the international expansion stuff. Don’t get me wrong, Holmes and Campbell seem to know what they’re doing, just want results first on the field.
Man this would’ve been unthinkable just a few years back. The Lions taking their team overseas like a real franchise? That’s how you know things are different now. Been watching this team forever and I gotta say the competence level under these guys is night and day compared to what we had before.
The 9:30 a.m. kickoff is gonna be rough but honestly who cares, I’m watching either way. Having Amon-Ra out there in Germany representing the Lions feels perfect and I’m hyped we get to see that play out.
