The Lions brought in a defensive tackle prospect who addresses their glaring depth issues. This is the same franchise that once thought letting quality defensive linemen walk was a sound strategy, so any movement here feels like progress.
But here’s the thing about this signing that should make every Lions fan pause. This prospect comes with one major red flag that’s hard to ignore.
Detroit desperately needed bodies behind their starting defensive tackles. Anyone who watched this team knows how thin they were when injuries started piling up. The depth chart looked like a grocery list written in disappearing ink.
So yes, adding a prospect makes sense. The front office recognized they had a problem and took a swing at fixing it. That’s more self-awareness than we’ve seen from some previous regimes in Allen Park.
