The draft picks are in, and Amon-Ra St. Brown just gave us his take on Brad Holmes’ latest masterpiece. And look, when your WR1 is breaking down draft strategy on his podcast, you listen.
St. Brown thinks Holmes nailed it again, which honestly shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. The man has been building this roster like he’s got a damn blueprint tattooed on his brain.
Blake Miller Has That Dog in Him
“I feel like Blake Miller is exactly what we needed—a tackle that has that mean streak in him. I saw some of the highlights—putting dudes on their back, finishing guys,” St. Brown said on the St. Brown Podcast. I feel like him and Penei Sewell are going to be a sick combo.
Miller bringing that nasty streak to the offensive line? Yeah, that tracks. This franchise has spent decades getting pushed around. Having two tackles who actually finish blocks sounds like a nice change of pace.
Michigan Men Everywhere
St. Brown figures Aidan Hutchinson is probably thrilled about getting two Michigan guys in Derrick Moore and Jimmy Rolder. Nothing like having your college teammates show up to help you terrorize NFC North quarterbacks.
The star receiver also admitted he’s been waiting forever for the Lions to draft a USC guy, referring to his alma mater. Can’t blame him for wanting some Trojan representation in Allen Park.
New Blood in the Receiving Room
St. Brown is excited to meet Kendrick Law from Kentucky, the newest addition to the receiving corps. “He looks like he plays hard. Jahmyr Gibbs said he was with him at Alabama for a very short stint. Excited to see him,” he said.
Getting a cosign from both your WR1 and your star running back before the guy even shows up to rookie minicamp? That’s a good sign.
The Rest of the Noise
Speaking of noise, someone at The Athletic already has a 2027 mock draft out, with USC QB Jayden Maiava potentially heading to Detroit. Because apparently we’re doing mocks for drafts that are still a full season away. The internet never sleeps, folks.
Hutchinson is making moves off the field too, launching a vintage golf apparel line called 4th and Fore. He’s also a finalist for the 2026 PFWA George Halas Award, which goes to the NFL player who overcomes the most adversity to succeed. After what he went through, that nomination makes perfect sense.
And Ford Field hosted a draft party for Lions Loyal Members, because this franchise actually knows how to treat its fans now. What a concept.
