Blake Miller’s Contract Numbers Are Out and Lions Fans Won’t Believe What They’re Paying Pick 17

Detroit Lions lock up Clemson star Blake Miller with 17th overall pick as contract details reveal the franchise's investment in their newest first-round addition.

Blake Miller Contract Details Drop After Lions Snag Clemson Star at Pick 17

The Detroit Lions made their move Thursday, selecting Blake Miller with the 17th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Clemson star now has his NFL contract details on the table, and we finally know what this investment looks like on paper.

Miller was the Lions’ first-round selection, adding another piece to what this organization hopes is a championship puzzle. After years of watching this franchise fumble draft picks in spectacular fashion, seeing any first-rounder get locked up feels like progress.

The contract specifics are now public, giving us a clear picture of what Allen Park is committing to their newest addition. For a franchise that has made some questionable financial decisions over the decades, transparency in these deals matters.

Miller brings Clemson pedigree to Ford Field, which sounds great until you remember that college success and NFL production are two entirely different animals. But hey, at least we know exactly what we’re paying for the experiment.

This is where the rubber meets the road for the Lions front office. Draft picks are investments, and first-round picks are expensive ones. The contract details matter because they show how much faith this organization has in Miller’s ability to contribute immediately.

Getting a former Clemson standout locked up and ready to go is the easy part. The hard part is making sure pick 17 actually pans out on Sundays. We’ve been down this road before, and it doesn’t always end where we hope it will.

Think Miller was worth the 17th pick and whatever they’re paying him, or is this another Lions reach that’ll have us all questioning life choices? Let me know in the comments.

I’m actually feeling good about this one. Blake looked sharp at Clemson and the fact that we’re getting transparency on the money is refreshing. Let’s give the kid a shot to prove he belongs in the league.

Look, I want to believe but college tape and NFL tape are totally different beasts. I’ve seen too many times where we get excited about the pedigree and forget that doesn’t mean squat on Sundays. Show me it works before I buy in.

You know, we’ve been through enough draft disappointments over the years that I just appreciate we’re being honest about what we’re paying for. That transparency is something I never thought I’d see from this organization.
