Lions Get NFL’s Easiest Schedule But Detroit Fans Know Better Than to Get Excited

Lions schedule leaks reveal an easy slate with home games against mostly weak opponents, Germany trip against Patriots, and early Thursday night matchup at Buffalo that has Vegas believing in playoff hopes.

The Lions Schedule Leaks Are Trickling In And We’re All Addicts

The NFL schedule release is Thursday, but like everything else in this league, they have to milk every drop of attention they can get. So here we are, refreshing Twitter like degenerates waiting for breadcrumbs about when exactly we get to watch this team break our hearts again.

The international slate drops Wednesday morning on Good Morning Football. We already know the Lions are heading to Germany, and the date leaked too. What we don’t know yet is the opponent, though the rumor mill is spinning hard on the Patriots.

Detroit Lions Gear

Here’s what we do know for sure about the opponents. The Lions get opponents based on the NFL’s rotating formula. In 2026, they play the NFC North twice, the NFC South, the AFC East, and three teams from 2025.

Home Sweet Ford Field

At home this season: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Giants, Jets, Buccaneers, and Titans. That’s not exactly murderer’s row, which is probably why the smart money people think this team has the easiest schedule in the league.

On the road: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, Falcons, Bills, Panthers, and Dolphins. The Bills game is already locked in as Thursday Night Football in Week 2, because apparently we can’t have nice things without the pressure of primetime.

Vegas Still Believes

FanDuel has the Lions favored to win the NFC North. They’re also giving us playoff odds and Super Bowl chances that would have seemed like science fiction during the Matt Millen years. Funny how a couple decent seasons can make people forget that hope is dangerous in Detroit.

What We Know So Far

The Germany game is November 15th against what looks like the Patriots. The Giants are definitely not the opponent, which someone felt the need to clarify. Week 2 at Buffalo on Thursday Night Football is locked in stone.

Rod Wood already crushed dreams about getting a bye week after the Germany trip, because of course he did.

The rest of the schedule is still a mystery, but we’ll keep updating this as more leaks trickle out. Because that’s what we do here. We wait. We hope. We get our hopes up about an easy schedule like we haven’t learned our lesson about counting chickens.

Think this schedule sets up for a bounce-back season or are we just setting ourselves up for more creative ways to lose? Let me know in the comments.
