The Schedule Tease Has Begun
Here we go again. The NFL wants to milk every second of attention they can get, so instead of just dropping the full schedule like normal human beings, they’re going to drip-feed us information all week long. Classic.
The Lions faithful will get their first taste Wednesday morning when the international slate gets announced on Good Morning Football. We already know Detroit is headed back to Germany, but we’re still waiting to find out which poor team has to make that trip with them.
At least we know who the Lions will be facing in 2026, thanks to the NFL’s rotating formula. After finishing fourth in the NFC North in 2025, Detroit gets to play three other last-place teams from last year. Small consolation prizes, but we’ll take what we can get.
The Opposition Lineup
Here’s how the home and away split shakes out for Ford Field in 2026:
Home games: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Patriots, Saints, Giants, Jets, Buccaneers, and Titans
Road trips: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, Falcons, Bills, Panthers, and Dolphins
On paper, this looks like the easiest schedule the Lions have faced in years. Hell, some projections have Detroit with the softest slate in the entire league. That’s either good news or the universe setting us up for maximum disappointment. We’ve been here before.
Vegas Still Believes
The oddsmakers over at FanDuel are buying what Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell are selling. They’ve got Detroit as favorites to win the NFC North again, heavy favorites to make the playoffs, and legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
Those numbers reflect what we saw during the draft and free agency. This front office isn’t just treading water. They’re building something real in Allen Park.
Early Leaks and Rumors
The rumor mill is already churning, and the biggest whisper floating around has the Lions traveling to Buffalo for Thursday Night Football in Week 2. Nothing confirmed yet, but it fits the NFL’s love for putting marquee teams in primetime slots early.
What we do know for certain is that Detroit’s Germany game is locked in for Sunday, November 15th at 9:30 AM Eastern. The opponent is still a mystery, but mark your calendars for that ungodly early kickoff time.
Rod Wood already dampened expectations about getting a bye week after the international game. Because of course they wouldn’t make it easy on the Lions. Some things never change.
The Full Schedule Framework
Most of the weekly slots remain empty for now, but here’s what the skeleton looks like with confirmed information:
Week 10: Lions vs. TBD in Germany, Sunday November 15th, 9:30 AM ET on FOX
Week 2 (Rumored): Lions at Bills, Thursday Night Football
The rest is still locked away in NFL headquarters, waiting to be parceled out over the next few days like breadcrumbs to hungry fans.
Is this the year the schedule finally breaks our way, or are we about to find out that our “easy” opponents all figured it out over the offseason? Drop your predictions below before the full reveal crushes our dreams.

Okay I’m not gonna lie, seeing us as favorites in our own division and legit Super Bowl contenders is wild. Holmes and Campbell have us built different compared to what we’re used to. If we can actually stay healthy and these guys keep developing, an easy schedule could be exactly what we need to make a real run.
I want to believe this so bad but easy schedules look a lot different in September than they do in December. Look I trust what Campbell and Holmes are building, but I’ve learned not to get too hyped until we actually play the games. That Germany game at 9:30 AM is gonna be rough too.
The way they’re handling this schedule reveal reminds me of the old days when we had to wait around for crumbs of information too, except back then we didn’t have anything to look forward to. At least now Holmes and Campbell have actually given us something real to be excited about instead of just hoping things work out.
