The Edge Rush Curse is Finally Broken: Why Moore is Different Than All the Lions Busts Before Him

The Detroit Lions finally draft their long-awaited edge rusher in Moore, bringing the relentless motor and physicality that perfectly fits Dan Campbell's vision for terrorizing opposing quarterbacks.

Moore to the Motor City: The Lions Finally Land Their Edge Rush Answer

We mocked Moore to the Lions in probably 97% of our mock drafts this year because it always made a ton of sense for them. The Detroit Lions finally have their edge rusher that their fans have been waiting for, for a long time.

And yes, I know what you’re thinking. We’ve heard this song before, haven’t we? How many times have we been promised the pass rusher who was going to change everything? How many draft picks have we burned on guys who were supposed to terrorize opposing quarterbacks?

But here’s the thing about Moore. This one feels different. Not because I’m getting soft in my old age, but because the fit is so damn obvious it hurts. A player who could be exactly what the Lions need, coming to a Lions team that desperately needs someone to get after the quarterback.

The risk is real, sure. Edge rushers are notoriously hard to project, and we’ve all seen promising college pass rushers disappear faster than playoff hopes in December. But the reward? The reward is finally having that game-changing presence that can make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks.

Moore brings the kind of motor and relentless pursuit that fits perfectly with what Dan Campbell is building in Allen Park. This isn’t some finesse pass rusher who’s going to wilt when things get physical. This is an edge rusher who understands that football is supposed to hurt.

For a fanbase that sat through years of anemic pass rush, watching quarterbacks stand in clean pockets like they were at a Sunday barbecue, Moore represents something we haven’t had in far too long. Hope that opposing offensive coordinators will actually have to game plan around our edge rush instead of treating it like a minor inconvenience.

Is this finally the edge rusher who breaks our curse, or are we setting ourselves up for another round of disappointment? Tell me why I’m right or wrong below.
